Conspiracy case against 11 former MPs admitted to supreme Court

Vanuatu Supreme Court is expected to hear 11 former members of parliament and a local lawyer on 2nd February over conspiracy charge to defeat the course of justice.

Yesterday, Senior Magistrate, Peter Moses found that there is a case to answer and admitted it  before the supreme.

The 11 former MPs are already serving their jail term of 3 years over the corruption and bribery of officials.

They are facing conspiracy charge over an attempt by the then acting president of republic, Marcelino Pepite to pardon himself and the other ten former MPs before they received their sentence on 22nd October last year.

Pepite pardoned them but his pardoning will only lasted for six days following the revocation of the instrument of pardoning by the president of republic, Father Baldwin Lonsdale after his return from oversea trip.

They were arrested during the same day of revocation.
