candidates queuing to pay out their debts

Candidates of snap election are still queuing this morning in government semi organisations like Vanuatu National Provident Fund to pay out their out-standings. VNPF said that staffs have worked through the lunch to meet the demands of the candidates. An other queue was also seen at Port Vila Municipal Council for the land rental and property tax.

Under people’s representation act, a candidate must not have a debt from the government and the semi government organisations.

The date to pay out the debts was yesterday but it was now adjourned until 16h30 this afternoon.

The advisor of electoral office, Martin Tete said that each candidate should know about the rules before applying. He said that they have also attached the rules of the application with the application. Mr Tete said that one the rules is to ask each candidate to pay his or her out-standings. .
