One of the major political parties in Vanuatu, Vanuaku Party, raise concerns over the problem of duplication of electoral cards for this month snap election in some constituencies affected by cyclone Pam.
VP national coordinator, Robert Avio said that while election date is approaching but there are still number of illegible voters in Tanna who haven’t got their electoral cards He said that most of the electoral cards of the voters on Tanna were destroyed by cyclone Pam.
Mr Avio said the office of the party has already made complaints to the electoral office.
He said that Tanna constituency is one of the biggest constituencies in Vanuatu with 7 seats and it is very important for the people to cast their votes.
Mr Avio said Tanna is not only of the country’s biggest constituency but it is also an important constituency for VP. He said during 2012 general election, VIP won the highest number of 52 seats in parliament when they scored 9 seats throughout the county. Only on Tanna, VP won 2 seats out of 7 seats.
Mr Avio said that for this snap election, VP is putting 20 candidates.
